Mackenzie Reiner, a fourth grader at Oak Woods School, was recently named the regional winner of an essay contest sponsored by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
After advancing from the local competition sponsored by the DRT's Comanche Peak Chapter, Reiner’s essay won first place at the organization’s District II contest. The district is also composed of chapters from Arlington, Brownwood, Duncanville, Euless, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Stephenville, and Wichita Falls.
The topic for this year’s contest was the Texas state cemetery.
