Emma Roberson Elementary students were rewarded for their community participation by the Hood County United Way during an assembly on May 25, 2010.

In April, the United Way held a ten-day fundraiser at Cotton Patch Cafe with ten percent of participating customer bills going to the local non-profit organization.  Each day during the fundraiser was designated for a Granbury school.  The restaurant ultimately donated $5,000 to the United Way.

Emma Roberson students, parents, and other supporters had the highest participation during their day on April 20.

As a reward, Cotton Patch gave every student and teacher a coupon for a free meal.  In addition, the restaurant delivered a special meal to Debbie Green and her first grade class, which had the most people participate in the fundraising event

In addition, legislative aide Tori Regas was on hand to bring congratulatory remarks from state representative Jim Keffer.

Through an annual campaign and additional fundraising, the United Way provides funding for numerous local charitable organizations.
