GRANBURY ISD SCHOOL BOARD MODIFIES GRADUATION POLICY, HEARS REPORT ON STATE TEST SCORES
May 26, 2010
The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees met for a special meeting on May 24, 2010 to consider changes to the district’s graduation policy and to hear a report on preliminary state test scores.
Trustees unanimously approved a modification to district policy regarding student participation in graduation ceremonies. The change will allow the superintendent to determine if a student would not meet all state and local requirements due to an “administrative error.” If the determination is made, the student could participate in graduation.
Superintendent Ron Mayfield provided a summary of preliminary state test scores to the board. Based on initial estimates, Granbury ISD will likely receive a Recognized state accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency. Projected ratings for campuses are:
- Exemplary: Acton Elementary School, Crossland Ninth Grade Center, Oak Wood School
- Recognized: Acton Middle School, Baccus Elementary School, Granbury High School, Granbury Middle School, Mambrino School
- Academically Acceptable: Brawner Intermediate School (and paired campus Roberson Elementary School, which shares the same attendance zone)
- AEA – Academically Acceptable: STARS Academy
Scores from fifth and eighth grade re-tests are still pending, and a report on student completion rate is expected in mid-June. Official accountability ratings will be issued by TEA on July 30.
