With the start of football season, Brawner Intermediate School students were showing their enthusiasm during Football Friday physical education classes and pep rally on September 23, 2011.  This was part of a grant application through the National Football League’s Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

Helping with the Football Friday events were freshman football players from Crossland Ninth Grade Center.

The grant request of $4,000 follows the school receiving money through the program during the 2010-11 school year.  Last February, Brawner students were treated to a pep rally featuring Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee.  That event was sponsored by Dairy MAX, a non-profit organization affiliated with the National Dairy Council

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a school nutrition and physical activity program launched by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The program encourages youth to consume nutrient-rich foods (low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains) and achieve 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
