GRANBURY STUDENTS ADVANCE TO REGION CHOIR

By qualifying for the region choir, twelve choir students from Granbury High School recently advanced another step toward making the Texas Music Educators Association all-state choirs at auditions held October 15, 2011, at Stephenville High School.  An additional twenty students from GHS and Crossland Ninth Grade Center qualified for the district choir.

Blake Bridges 

Second tenor Blake Bridges (pictured at left) won first chair seating in the region choir.  The GHS senior has made the all-state choir for the last two years was also named an Outstanding Soloist at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest in 2010.

 

The students qualifying for the region and district choirs are:

 

Soprano 1:  region choir – Tori Townsend; district choir – Katie Fee, Hailey Hart

 

Soprano 2:  region choir – Miranda Mhoon; district choir – Zoe Naifeh, Abby Ritchmond

 

Alto 1:  district choir – Kennedy Brown, Makenzie Kane, Shelby Morrison, Maria Oviedo

 

Alto 2:  region choir – Jessica Taylor, Rachael Rodgers, Carley White; district choir – Kelly Kollman, Alexandra Reid, Maci Samuelson, Tiffany Terrier

 

Tenor 1:  region choir – Joel Reid; district choir – Trace Chiappe

 

Tenor 2:  region choir – Blake Bridges (first chair), Peter Dowd; district choir – Christian Carvajal, Ryan Grant, Keith Jackson, Chase Whittet

 

Bass 1:  region choir – Brent Condit; district choir – Cody Bridges, Steven Chatman, Zach Payne

 

Bass 2:  region choir – Nate Milson, Phillip Mullen, Joseph Townsend

 

The pre-area auditions for those making the region choir will be held on Friday, November 18 at North Crowley High School.  The district/region choir clinic and concert will follow on Saturday, November 19 at the Weatherford High School auditorium.
