Granbury High School held commencement exercises for the Class of 2012 on May 25, 2012, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Principal Jeremy Ross presented the graduates to the Board of Trustees. Diplomas were presented by school board members: Charlie Cloud, president; Micky Shearon, vice president; Mark Jackson, secretary; Nancy Alana; Dr. Barbara Herrington; B.J. Wallace; and Don Walton. Each senior was congratulated by Ross and superintendent Ron Mayfield.
As the top two students in the graduating class, valedictorian Sarah Smith and salutatorian Michael Webb each delivered an address. Senior class president Stephen Carver also spoke on behalf of the seniors.
The remaining students in the top ten of the class were recognized by Ross: Hunter Beck, Brendon Clough, Dylan Francis, Emily Hiler, Connor Lively-Adams, Kelly Lyden, Kathryn Middlebrook, and Maggie Smith.
Other class officers and student council officers participated in the program and were part of the stage party. The others were: Samantha Black, senior class/student council treasurer; Caitlan Brooks, student council president/senior class secretary; Morgan Willett, student council/senior class vice president; and Austin Williams, student council spirit coordinator. Also participating was National Spanish Honor Society member Annaly Martinez.
All-State choir members Blake Bridges and Jessica Taylor sang the National Anthem, and all senior choir members performed “Sing Me to Heaven.” The GHS Pirate Band provided music for the processional and recessional as well as the School Song – led by senior drum majors Ian Bird and Emily Hiler. The school’s Marine Corps JROTC color guard presented the colors.
