CHOIR STUDENTS EXCEL AT STATE SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST
June 5, 2012

Blake Bridges capped off his high school singing career, being named an Outstanding Soloist after earning a Division I superior rating on his solo. Bridges, who graduated in May, was selected for the TMEA all-state choir each of the past three years and was chosen as an outstanding soloist at the state solo and ensemble competition in 2010.
Other soloists earning the top mark with a Division I rating were Josh Carpenter, Aubrey Caudle, Brent Condit, Nathaniel Milson, Cody Mullican, Crystal Simmons, Tori Townsend, and Natalie Willingham.
Ensembles with a superior rating were:
- Girls Small Vocal Ensemble: Brooke Goodson, Jessica Taylor, Tori Townsend, Natalie Willingham
- Boys Small Vocal Ensemble: Ian Bird, Blake Bridges, Keith Jackson, Nathaniel Milson
Receiving Division II excellent ratings were Ian Bird, Peter Dowd, Katie Fee, Ashley Graves, Hailey Hart, Kyle Mayes, Joel Reid, Abby Ritchmond, Rachael Rodgers, Destany Seymore, Jessica Taylor, Carley White, Chase Whittet, and Kaitlyn Williams.
Two choir groups also received excellent ratings:
- Girls Small Vocal Ensemble: Hailey Hart, Makenzie Kane, Viviana Lopez, Rachael Rodgers
- Boys Small Vocal Ensemble: Cody Bridges, Kyle Mayes, Nick Mayes, Joel Reid
- Madrigal: Cindy Adams, Krystyn Buchanan, Ally Gonzalez, Ashton Goodson, Shelby Hilton, Connor Krebbs, Hannah Olson, Maria Oveido, Zack Payne, Kwaun Shaw
- Madrigal: Josh Carpenter, Aubrey Caudle, Katie Fee, Ashley Graves, Alexandra Reid, Abby Ritchmond, Joseph Townsend, Grant Watts, Carley White, Chase Whittet
Others participating in the state competition were soloists Cody Bridges, Krystyn Buchanan, Brooke Goodson, Shelby Hilton, Mitchell Knox, Viviana Lopez, Shelby Morrison, Zack Payne, Sandra Tovar as well as a madrigal composed of Blake Bergeman, Krysta Caudle, Trace Chiappe, Jessica English, Ciera Kade, Kelly Kollman, Brandon Pantoja, Tiffany Pilgrim, Nick Sandelin, and Shana Solomon.
GHS choir directors are Joy Hope and Greg Doss while directing the Crossland choir are Randall Walters and Cathy Terrel.
