Members of the Granbury ISD Board of Trustees are in Fort Worth for the Texas Association of School Boards’ annual Summer Leadership Institute held June 28-30, 2012, to receive required training along with school board members from across the state.
Attending from Granbury is incoming superintendent Dr. James Largent along with all board members – president Charlie Cloud, vice president Micky Shearon, secretary Mark Jackson, Nancy Alana, Dr. Barbara Herrington, B.J. Wallace, and Don Walton. It is the final act for Cloud, who submitted his resignation effective at the end of June.
Participants are attending both general and break-out sessions on various topics covering the responsibilities of school board members.
Texas state law requires that school board members receive continuing education and training annually. Trustees may fulfill those requirements at TASB conferences, at seminars conducted by education service centers, or at other training sessions held throughout the year.
