GHS BAND STUDENTS COMPETE IN STATE SOLO-ENSEMBLE CONTEST

Members of the Granbury High School Band recently participated in the UIL Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest, which was held in Austin on May 24, 2008.

 

Earning a Gold Medal for a Division 1 superior rating was the Woodwind Ensemble consisting of Ashley Owens, clarinet; Ariel Porter, flute; Alexa Ward, clarinet; and Audra Ward, flute.  The ensemble performed “Conversation Piece for Woodwind Quartet.”

 

Silver Medals were given to three soloists earning a Division 2 rating.  They were:

  • Snare Drum Solo (Nick Hamilton), “Hi Ho Simpson”
  • Keyboard Percussion Solo (Laura Wright), “The Whirlwind”
  • Keyboard Percussion Solo (Michael Brau), “Gitano”

 

Also participating in the state competition were Taylor Boase, Hayley Booth, Brandon Buckman, Martin Caraway, Blake Davis, Cydni Fotter, Amanda Heard, Caitlyn Hull, Chase Kallemeyn, Kyle Keating, Ryan Matheny, Nick Nappier, Michael Sager, Lauren Webb, and Taylor Wiedekehr.
