On May 22, 2008, the students received a tour by production manager Pattie Hartin. The tour gave the students an insider's view of the news studios and an opportunity to see all facets of news production. The group later watched the evening news broadcast. The students also met news anchors Doug Dunbar and Tracy Kornet as well as meteorologist Larry Mowry.
Last summer, teacher Judy Gentry served as an extern at the television station through the Tech Prep Consortium at Weatherford College. Each teacher in the program gained professional development by actually working in businesses and then creating lesson plans for the classroom based on their experiences. The program continues to help teachers stay current on business and industry skills and standards and, therefore, more effectively enabling them to prepare their students for the real world of work.
