STARS ACADEMY GRADUATION SET FOR JUNE 6
May 27, 2008
Forty-one students attending STARS Academy will receive their high school diplomas at Spring graduation exercises to be held on the evening of Friday, June 6, 2008. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 P.M. at Acton United Methodist Church.
“If someone has never attended a STARS graduation, it is truly a unique experience,” said Principal Edwin Young.
An alternative academic high school that is part of Granbury ISD, STARS Academy provides an optional setting with flexibility and personalized self-paced courses for students whose needs are not met in the traditional school. Over six hundred students have graduated from STARS Academy since the campus was founded in 1994.
STARS stands for Self-Motivated Teens Achieving Responsibility and Success. The students are required to complete the same graduation requirements as all students in the state, and the school is accredited by both the Texas Education Agency and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The staff serves as a strong support system to provide each student with every opportunity to learn, grow, and belong. In addition, students receive encouragement and moral support from members of several local churches and organizations.
A reception will immediately follow the graduation ceremony.
