GRANBURY HIGH SCHOOL SETS GRADUATION, NAMES TOP GRADUATES

Graduation exercises for the Class of 2008 from Granbury High School will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.  The ceremony will begin at 7:00 P.M.  Baccalaureate will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Justin Colborg and Perla Campos3:00 P.M.  That service, which is sponsored by the Granbury Ministerial Alliance, will be held in the Bagby-McMahan Performing Arts Center at GHS.

 

Justin Colborg and Perla Campos will represent the senior class as valedicatorian and salutatorian.

 

Colborg, who is the son of Jerry and Pamela Colborg, has a Grade Point Average of 4.752.  He is active with the Speech and Debate Team, Student Council, Academic Decathlon, French Honor Society, and UIL Academic Team.  Colborg has served as vice president of Key Club, secretary of the National Honor Society, Master Peer mediator, and a tutor.  He attended the state science fair two years, participated in the Student Congress state competition, and was elected Supreme Court Justice at Texas Boys State.  Colborg received the Rotary Youth Leadership award and was recognized as the Young Texan of the Month by the Granbury Optimist Club.  He plans to attend Texas A&M University to major in engineering.

 

Campos is the daughter of Lydia Campos and has a Grade Point Average of 4.633.  She is the president of the Student Council, president of the Spanish Honor Society, and vice president of the National Honor Society.  Campos participated in the GHS Choir, Key Club, Spanish Club, and Pirates for Christ.  She received the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award and served as a North Texas representative at that organization’s world conference.  Campos was selected to the All-State Choir and received Division 1 ratings at the State Solo and Ensemble Contest.  She attended Girls State, received the Rotary Youth Leadership award, and was recognized as the Young Tex-Anne of the Month by the Granbury Optimist Club.  Campos will study international business at Stanford University.

 

Other seniors in the top ten of the graduating class are (in order):  Kacy Mayberry, Zachary Lucas, Raven Chastain, Megan Moser, Megan Addison, Christopher Carver, Kyle Keating, and Sarah Tatlock.
