Nettie Baccus Elementary School recently thanked reading mentors who volunteer for the Help One Student to Succeed (HOSTS) program. The school and Parent Teacher Association held an appreciation luncheon on May 16, 2008.
Mentors meet weekly with first and second grade students to serve as role models as well as to assist with the development of reading skills. Sessions with students are thirty minutes on Monday-Thursday. Volunteers meet with each child individually but may choose to sign up to mentor additional students.
