Two Granbury High School students recently had work published on the website Teen Ink.
Sydney Barnette and Jordan Ottaway are both juniors taking a creative writing class taught by Brent Irish.
Barnette’s work is a humorous take-off on the Twilight movies, while Ottaway wrote about golf experiences in a story entitled “The Daddy Caddies.”
In creative writing class, students are expected to apply skills to their own writing in such forms as essays, short stories, poetry, and drama. Students use the recursive nature of the writing process, improving each draft based on the feedback from previous drafts. They also analyze and discuss published pieces of writing and the writing of peers, as well as set their own goals as writers.
Teen Ink is a national teen magazine, book series, and website devoted entirely to teenage writing, art, and photos.
