STARS Academy held fall graduation exercises on the evening of December 14, 2010, at Acton Baptist Church. Thirteen students received high school diplomas during the ceremony.
Principal Edwin Young presented the diplomas to the graduates. Superintendent Ron Mayfield transferred the tassel for each student, who was also congratulated by school board members Charlie Cloud, Nancy Alana, and Don Walton. Following the awarding of diplomas, the students presented roses to family members, friends, and others that helped them finish their high school education.
The graduates receiving their high school diplomas were: Colby James Hatfield, Brandon Taylor James, Danielle Elizabeth Kight, Vanessa Arianna Rosas, Maranda Sue Rucker, Rebecca Paige Sprouse, Karissa Lynne Stevens, Clayton Allen Thornton, Dennis Don Ward II, Garrett Taylor White, Ashleigh Nicole Womack, Brady Paul Woolery, and Charles (Trey) Alvin Youngblood III.
Rucker, who was not able to attend the ceremony, is the first graduate from the school’s new Adult High School.
A reception following the ceremony was hosted by the church’s Agape Sunday School class.
