LADY PIRATE VOLLEYBALL GIRLS HONORED AT BANQUET

After advancing to the Class 4A regional quarterfinals, the Lady Pirate volleyball team ended their season with a banquet on November 29, 2010, at the Granbury Resort Conference Center.

 

The three-game playoff run included the Lady Pirates winning victories over San Angelo Lake View and Springtown before falling to Aledo.  It marked the second consecutive year that the Lady Pirates competed in the regional quarterfinals.

 

District ChampsCoach Tammy Clark handed out the following team awards:

 

  • Most Valuable Player – Madisson Martin
  • Offensive Player of the Year – Stacey Wilson
  • Co-Defensive Players of the Year – Makenzie Scanlan and Sierra Smith
  • Excellence – Sarah Roberts
  • Most Improved – Shannon Helm
  • Will to Win – Laiken Britt
  • Rookie of the Year – Madison Martin

Leading District 7-4A honors was Madisson Martin, who was named Player of the Year. Players selected for all-district teams were:

  • First Team:  Sarah Roberts, Sierra Smith, Stacey Wilson
  • Second Team:  Madison Martin, Makenzie Scanlan
  • Honorable Mention:  Laiken Britt, Shannon Helm
Academic honors were also announced, with three seniors receiving Academic All-State recognition:  Madisson Martin, Makenzie Scanlan, and student athletic trainer Hannah Goetz.  In addition to the three state qualifiers, others receiving Academic All-District recognition were Laiken Britt, Katlyn Ferguson, McKenzie Harrison-Bolen, Shannon Helm, Paige Holt, Madison Martin, Kathryn Middlebrook, Sarah Roberts, Sierra Smith, and Stacey Wilson.
