F.A.Q.

Q. What is the difference between Volunteers and Visitors?
A. Volunteers are assigned to work on a specific task or chaperone school sponsored events/activities and may work with students under staff supervision. Volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Application annually. Visitors are allowed to attend school sponsored events/activities but may neither chaperone nor work with students other than his/her own child. Visitors are not required to complete a Volunteer Application but must check-in at the front office and present valid photo identification.

Q. Is a new Volunteer Application required every school year?
A. Yes. Approval status expires July 2026.

Q. How long does it take to process my application?
A. Applications are processed on a rolling, weekly basis. Applications submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday will be processed by the following Wednesday.

Q. How will I know if I am approved?
A. Notification emails are sent to applicants on Thursday of each week.

Q. If I want to chaperone my child's field trip, when should I submit my application?
A. Parents/guardians are encouraged to submit the Volunteer Application at the beginning of the school year so that they are eligible to chaperone field trips later without worrying about processing time.  However, applications are processed on a weekly basis. Applications submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday will be processed by the following Wednesday.

Q. Are Volunteers required to attend training?
A. No. Volunteers are required to read the Volunteer Handbook and follow guidelines.  A submitted Volunteer Application is also acknowledged receipt of handbook and agreement to follow guidelines. For handbook questions or to schedule further training, contact Lissa Oliver.

Q. What if my Volunteer Application is denied?
A. Applications may be denied based on unacceptable characteristics that do not meet District expectations as listed at the top of the Volunteer Application. If denied, you are still a welcomed visitor as defined above. For background check questions, contact Angie Wilkins.

Q. Does the District disclose information from the criminal history record to a person who is not authorized?
A. No. Granbury ISD does not share confidential information unless required by law.
